Service Description

What is manual lymphatic drainage? Manual lymphatic drainage (MLD) is a specialized bodywork technique designed to stimulate the lymphatic system and encourage the natural drainage and detoxification of lymph fluid from tissues. This gentle, rhythmic massage involves light, circular movements that follow the direction of lymph flow from the extremities back to the heart. Unlike the circulatory system, the lymphatic system has no pump. It relies on movement, muscle contraction, and manual work to function at its best. Physiology: The lymphatic system is a vital open system of transportation in the body that functions to move lymph. Lymph contains various substances like carbohydrates, enzymes, and minerals, and transports larger proteins and lipids that cannot enter blood capillaries throughout the body, especially to the liver and gastrointestinal tract for detoxification. Simultaneously while cleaning up debris, the lymphatic system is composed of white blood cells which are the foundation of a healthy immune system as they fight infection and disease. By this mechanism, the lymphatic system is a detoxifying partner to the circulatory system and is our body's most crucial immunity system. The lymphatic system is especially essential for maintaining proper fluid balance throughout the body and for the absorption of fat-soluble vitamins so that they can enter the bloodstream. Glymphatics, specialized lymphatic vessels in the brain and central nervous system, aid in detoxifying metabolic byproducts. Congestion in these vessels can lead to symptoms such as mood swings, memory issues, and fatigue. Common causes of lymphatic congestion include stress, digestive problems, and environmental toxins. INDICATIONS: Pre and Post Operative Rehabilitation including: Joint Replacements C-sections Lymph Node removal Broken Bones Torn Meniscus For any surgical condition, MLD will accelerate healing by bringing healthy lymphocytes to the region of trauma, as well as reduce swelling, edema, and scar tissue adhesion. Post-surgical scars that obstruct lymphatic pathways and cause local swelling can be alleviated through MLD, which reconnects these pathways. Skin & Face: Eczema Acne Cellulite Lipedema Lymphedema Bell’s Palsy Glaucoma Migraines Sinusitis Traumatic Brain Injuries & Concussion Inflammatory Conditions & More: Arthritis Dermatitis Sinusitis Pregnancy Rapid weight gain or loss Crohn's Disease Alzheimer's Multiple Sclerosis Parkinson's Disease
